Cartridges containing strong cationic resin are used for softening.
The sodium cyclic ion exchange resin is a strong cationic resin with high exchange capacity, excellent regenerative and kinetic efficiency, and with good chemical-physical and thermal stability.
The purpose of the cartridge is to eliminate overall hardness, and the production of softened water in small quantities. In fact, through an ion exchange process it is able to retain the ions responsible for water hardness (calcium and magnesium), releasing sodium.
The contained resins are particularly sensitive to the degrading action of chlorine, therefore their installation in the water main should be accompanied by an activated carbon cartridge upstream.
This type of cartridge is suitable for use in both small domestic and industrial systems.
